White Beaches and Parasols | Alcudia, Mallorca

And finally I'll end this Mallorca series with photos from Alcudia and bus trips around Mallorca. (I've been writing Alducia all the time, but it's pronounced Alcúdia, stress on the cu.) Our hotel was in Alcudia and that's were we spent most of the week. Alcudia is a beach resort so perhaps not the most interesting place in Mallorca. But taking trips around the island you can have a more eventful vacation. Palma is definitely worth visiting. And on the road between Palma and Alcudia, you can see beautiful landscapes: farms, orange trees, poppy fields, horses, sheep...

Mallorca-postaukset päättyvät Alcudiaan ja kuviin bussimatkoilta saaren läpi. (Olen muuten koko ajan kirjoittanut Alcudia, mutta Alcúdia kuvaa sanan ääntämystä paremmin. Paino on toisella tavulla.) Hotellimme sijaitsi Alcudiassa ja vietimme siellä suurimman osan viikosta. Alcudia on rantalomakohde, eikä siis ehkä Mallorcan kiinnostavin paikka. Reissailemalla ympäri saarta saa kuitenkin tapahtumarikkaan loman. Varsinkin Palmassa kannattaa ehdottomasti käydä. Palman ja Alcudian välisellä bussimatkalla (esim. lentokentältä tullessa) näkee muuten kauniita maisemia: viljelyksiä, appelsiinipuita, unikkopeltoja, hevosia, lampaita...

But as said, Alcudia is a beach resort. And the beach in Alcudia is the longest I've ever seen. Having a walk on the beach or by the waterline (the water is really shallow) is actually much more enjoyable than just lying, tanning on the beach. The beach is supposed to be 14 km long so it won't run out right away. Remember to cover your head, face and shoulders, though. The sun really burns.

Mutta kuten sanottu, Alcudia on rantakohde. Ja Alcudian ranta on muuten pisin, jonka olen ikinä nähnyt. Ja rantaa tai vesirajaa pitkin kävely on itse asiassa paljon mukavampaa kuin rannalla löhöily. Ranta on kuulemma 14 km pitkä, joten se ei ihan heti lopu kesken. Mutta muista suojata pää, kasvot ja olkapäät hyvin, koska Alducian aurinko todella polttaa. 

The Ironman triatlon was held in Alcudia  at the time we were there (beginning of May last year).

Alcudiassa pidettiin Ironman triathlon matkamme aikaan (viime vuoden toukokuun alussa).

One of my souvenirs from the trip was this cute bag. I was using it almost daily last summer after the trip. It was very cheap (6 euros) and not very durable, but I figured I can use some of the parts to make a new bag after the fabric breaks. 

Yksi matkamuistoistani oli tämä söpö laukku. Käytin sitä melkein päivittäin viime kesänä matkan jälkeen. Laukku oli halpa (6 euroa), eikä kovin kestävän oloinen, mutta ajattelin, että voin käyttää sen osia uuden laukun tekemiseen, kun kangas hajoaa.
